Good Perspective

Intelligent people are always ready to learn. Their ears are open for knowledge. Proverbs 18.15

Good perspective is good theology. It’s your life philosophy. Do you have one? Yes, I know you do.

One day I realized something. I consciously recognized that I did not choose to be born. I did not choose life. Nor did I have the power to do so. I had no consciousness. I did not exist, except in the mind of God.

If that’s true, then life is a gift. No matter how long or short. Whether good or bad, it’s a gift. What makes it a gift? Your soul makes it a gift. Think of your soul as a spiritual and eternal location, an address where God can find you. 

Once our body finally says, “I’m done, that’s all I got,” our soul returns to the one who thought us into existence – no matter the circumstances. Being a soul is the eternal opportunity afforded us by a gracious God.

If that’s true, what I do with my life is my gift back to God. Someday, I will give an account of my life. How did I invest my life into good? How did I invest my life into the things that matter to God? Did I stretch myself enough? How did I pick myself up after failing and falling? How did I help others?

Our lives include chaos. Chaos is an opportunity. We have an opportunity to live with purpose, transforming chaos into order. Transforming trash into treasure. Transforming what is wrong into something useful. Something good.

Life is a gift. Life is an opportunity. And life has a purpose.

If that’s true, what do you want to do with the rest of your life? What kind of person do you want to become? What kind of leader do you want to become?

If we become better people and better leaders, everyone benefits!
