Jim’s special guest today is Evan Owens, co-founder of REBOOT Recovery, a non-profit organization providing peer-led trauma healing for everyone. Together with his co-founder and wife, Dr. Jenny Owens, they envision REBOOT to mobilize the largest peer-led response to trauma and suicide ever built! Mental health is a serious and growing problem and traditional providers just can’t keep up with demand. With that, REBOOT offers a peer-led, faith-based, group solution that is available to everyone. No insurance companies involved, only a caring community of people who want to help and provide hope and support.
Jim and Evan talk about the path that led to what would eventually become REBOOT. According to Evan, it all started with 2 dudes named Matt and a lady named Darlene meeting in their living room in 2011. They also break out into some leadership tips and advice. Evan gets a little fired up on the topic of Church leaders often not taking on the mental health needs of their own communities.
